Gig review: QUARANTUNE ROCKS – The Victoria, Coalville, Leicestershire, 17 May 2025

King Kraken - QUARANTUNE ROCKS - The Victoria, Coalville, Leicestershire, 17 May 2025

As many of you know, Quarantune Rocks was set up as a music haven during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020. Established by music fans for music fans, it quickly grew into a friendly, music supporting group that decided as soon as restrictions lifted to hold a live music event, supporting bands and small music venues, donating profit to the Music Venue Trust.

Here we are, in May 2025, running our fourth live festival at the Victoria Bikers Pub in Leicestershire.

The sun is out, we have opted to enjoy the air and use the outside stage as much as possible, the stage is set, the sound check is done and we are surrounded by QR family this feels good!

Our opener is Kromiius, a 4-piece, from Oxfordshire, who give us a cracking start to the event, belting out their original yet very classic rock style songs and riffs and gaining new fans as they rip through their set. A great trailblazer what was to come.  Check out their recent singles, ‘November’ and ‘Eyes Wide Open’.

Next up are Fall From Ruin, from Swindon, they’ve graced our stage before, changed lead singer and are back to deliver what they do best, which is good melodic rock with some style!

Bare Knuckle Asylum, our house band, are next up and how this band has grown, delivering hard rock with high energy and precision, they’re finalists in Metal to the Masses and it’s clear to see why. This band is all about the songs, the musicianship and presence. Check out ‘Dive Bomber’ and ‘Boudicca’ amongst their repertoire for a taster.

QUARANTUNE ROCKS - The Victoria, Coalville, Leicestershire, 17 May 2025

Guns For Girls delivered a blistering set as a 3-piece.  Always a Quarantune Rocks favourite they thunder through their set getting the crowd engaged and delivering a brilliant cover of Kate Bush’s Running Up That Hill, they set the stage on fire and it was all over too soon. Check out ‘Universal Icebreaker’ and ‘Finale’ for a taster.

JoanOvArc - QUARANTUNE ROCKS - The Victoria, Coalville, Leicestershire, 17 May 2025

Quarantune Rocks has always tried to showcase and support women in rock and JoanOvArc are no exception. An all female rock band, they set about tearing the stage up with Emma at the helm, opening with ‘Silver Sun’ and showcasing the talented band they are, ripping through a packed set to the delight of the QR family, winning new fans in the process, these girls absolutely rock!

Revenant - QUARANTUNE ROCKS - The Victoria, Coalville, Leicestershire, 17 May 2025

Next up Revenant, what is there to say other than I suspect this band is not long for smaller venues and you should catch them if you get the opportunity! They deliver on every level and sound so tight live, you’d think they’d been together years, southern influences, absolutely classic rock with well crafted lyrics. What a set!

Our metal gods, King Kraken headline the indoor stage, delivering their new album, March Of The Gods live interspersed with classic Kraken favourites. When Mark unleashes that guttural roar, it’s hard to believe that this is that same voice that then belts out ‘Hero’. A few tears fall in the audience such is the poignancy of this track dedicated to his Father, and resonating with many.

A favourite of the QR team and family, it’s no wonder this band is being played on mainstream radio and are a huge festival name, we are so lucky to have them here with us; there’s no doubt King Kraken are metal gods and we love em! Closing out with ‘Chainsaw Saviour’, they bring Quarantune Rocks 2025 to a close … what a day, what a cracking line up, and what great music.

Thanks to the team at the Vic for hosting us as ever, big thanks to our amazing sound engineer and to the legend that is Steve Russ on videography. Thanks to everyone who joined us, danced and sang along, to my fellow admins – thank you, team! Quarantune does indeed rock and long may it continue.
